Mizuho closed its factory doors in December, 2004. In the United States or Canada equipment is only available on the used market.
In Japan a handful of accessories and
parts for homebrewing or repair are still available
directly from Mizuho. Genuine Mizuho crystals
for the Pico transceivers (MX series handhelds) and the
FX series, QX-21, and P series portable transceivers are no longer being
manufactured by Santec. As third party crystals have proven problematic in these radios this does
present a real issue.
Hams in the U.K. can still purchase a variety of genuine Mizuho crystals for the 80m, 40m, 20m and 15m bands only directly from Waters & Stanton, Mizuho's former dealer there. They also still have selected products for sale new, including the KX-S9 Sky Coupler and KX-QRP antenna tuners as well as a portable HF antenna. They also carry the Gloabl AT-2000, a rebranded OEM version of Mizuho's AT-2000 SWL antenna tuner. They also do get a variety of Mizuho equipment from time to time on their second hand shelf. Waters & Stanton will ship internationally and accept all major credit cards. International shipping by EMS (Express Mail International) is their standard, and it can be quite expensive but very fast indeed. Orders placed by phone generally arrive in the U.S. in a few days.
Hams wishing to have Mizuho equipment serviced by Tsugo Takada, JA1AMH, the founder of Mizuho and the designer of most of their equipment, can do so. He still operates what remains of the Mizuho business from the basement of his home. Mizuho will not ship overseas, however, so the repaired equipment can be returned to Rodney Tom, KH7L / JJ0JIH who will, in turn, ship it to the owner. Please contact Rod directly for assistance.
